Wagner Windy Wagner’s Journey to Becoming One of L.A.’s Most Sought After Vocalists
[View Article & Listen To The Audio Interview]
When I hit L.A. in 1996, I was bright eyed & bushy tailed – wide awake with possibility. Instinctually, I knew I needed to put together some type representation of my voice if I wanted to work as a singer, so one of the first things I did was record a demo tape with some of my favorite cover songs of the time. That proved to be the single most important move I made early in my career. Yes, I was broke as a joke. No I couldn’t afford it. But, somehow, I made it happen – and that turned out to be the calling card I needed to get my foot in the door. I sent it to everyone & anyone who would listen and the rest, as the say, is history. I’ve never had to do anything other than music to support myself. THAT was the goal…doing what I love for a living. Recalling my own story, while hearing Windy’s, was a great reminder of the hunger we all have while pursuing our dreams. I believe it is a necessary component to achieving anything we truly desire.
I love this episode. Windy has really seen it all and shares all kinds of behind the scenes stories and know-how. She got started late as a professional singer but her journey proves that talent and hustle are the key ingredients to having a successful career as a singer-songwriter in the most competitive city in the world, Los Angeles.
